Since the new PS3 update (2.20) and the new Call of Duty 4 patch, I and a few friends had quite a few problems gaming and hearing each other online. Joining a server was no problem but trying to join each other’s parties resulted in getting a Host Error. So I have done some digging around and have come up with a soloution. I have tested it and it seems to work. What we are trying to achieve by doing this is give your PS3 a static ip address and selecting the DMZ option on your router. Read on……..

Although not due out until the end of April, the new update for Call Of Duty 4 will feature 4 new maps. Chinatown, Creek, Killhouse and Broadcast. Check out video to see what you will get for your money. I reckon Killhouse will be a lot of fun if not a tad hectic!  or check out this link 

 It has been reported that Sony Ericsson have applied for a new PSP phone patent which is kind of strange as they have long denied any such idea. The application shows a sketch of a device with a large touch-screen LCD screen with a built in accelerometer that allows the user to reformat the GUI depending on which way up it is held, I’m guessing similar to the iPod touch technology? There were reports yesterday that Stan Glasgow, President of Sony Electronics, were having discussions with Microsoft about a possible move to incorporate a Blu-Ray player in the Xbox 360. This means that if true Sony would be making money from the sales of the 360 and the PS3! For more info on this check PS3 Fanboy.

Being a bit of a geek I read a lot of stuff on technology that I am interested in. As an owner of a PS3 and defender of its existence I find any article that explains why it is relevant a good thing and something worth sharing to all those people who are are unsure of the choice between PS3 and XBox 360. PS3 Fanboy has produced such an article that clearly points outs the advantages of now owning a PS3 and why it will win the console war eventually! Read about Jooce.com on the BBC website the other day and then my friend Russ told me to check it out. What is it? Jooce is an online private desktop/space for “cyber nomads” who either don’t own a computer or are on the move a lot and are constantly in and out of internet cafes with their usb sticks. You can upload files, photos, bundle your instant messenger and email together in one easy to use place. Which means wherever you are in the world you can log in and access all your stuff as if you were carring around a laptop without the huge price tag! It has a great look to it, with an easy to use menu system which looks like a simplified OS X and the whole thing was built using flash giving it a very animated and fresh look.

If anyone has used Jooce or is going to sign up after reading this, then let me know what you thought of it. I have only used it for a short while so will jot down an update once I have used it more.

I have always been on the look our for a program for my Mac that would allow me to access my iPods mp3’s in case of lose of data etc. Well the other day I stumbled across a program called Senuti that is designed to do just that with very little fuss and it is very simple to use. All you do is download it here and install (Mac users only I am afraid) then before running, plug your iPod into your Mac whilst pressing the Apple Key and Alt. This stops iTunes from asking if you want to sync. Then run Senuti and haypresto within 10 secs it brings up a box with all your tunes ready to transfer back to iTunes. Now this is very good if you have had a harddrive failure and lost all your tunes or if you want to grab a tune or two from a friends iPod.Any thoughts would be most welcome.

After ignoring my site for a good 5 months I thought it best to remove the Adam Cook Photography theme and go back to what this blog did best - Geek out! So hopefully over the next month or so I will be taking a look at some cool stuff that interests me including write ups on PS3 games, cool programs for Apple Macs and anything else I feel I want to geek out on in my Geekdom!

Apple have released their newest edition to the iPod family called the iPod Touch. It looks very much like the sexy iPhone with a 3.5 inch widescreen display, multi-touch user interface which means no buttons or click wheel, Wi-Fi capable so you can download your favourite tracks straight from iTunes and surf the net using Safari and watching videos on You Tube. The iPod Touch is avaliable in two sizes, 8GB and 16GB and its dimensions are 110mm by 61.8mm by 8 mm. Its a big design leap from the last iPod update and I think its a welcome one, lets just hope they bring out a larger hardrive size as I won’t be able to fit all my music on otherwise! Apple keep the ground breaking products and designs coming!
